American Idol: Queen Night

By:  Miriam Rizcalla de Cornejo

A wonderful show on American Idol, on Wednesday.  It couldn't be any better.  Luxury really!  Having the presince of two of the original members of the world famous English band, Queen, was a privilege.

Throughout the night, the contestants showed a display of talent to interpret many of the most well-known songs of the missing band.

It was quite a challenge, needless to say, as Queen's hits are known around the world.  It is hard to believe that anyone can do better than the lead singer of the band, he will always be remembered, Freddie Mercury.

Certainly, it is not good to make comparisons, but Freddie Mercury was unique, is still unique, and irreplaceable.  However, the contestants had given a very incredible night, for the pleasure of the audience and the viewers.

A person whose absence was certainly resented tonight was Colton Dixon.  As his sound was mainly rock, his performance would have been unforgettable, no doubt.  Tonight would have been his night.  It always happens.  Talented competitors are eliminated from the competition prior to a moment, in which their genre is the main theme...but they can no longer show it off.  And people resent and regret it.

Anyway, thank you, American Idol, for taking us by the hand throughout the world of music and touring the great success of this fabulous band.  Long live Queen... Freddie Mercury, who ever said you left?...
